Haymarket resident Angela Knight, a heralded opera singer, is putting on a Dec. 3 concert for two local community members in need. This year’s production, “Winter Wonderland,” will be performed Dec. 3 at Battlefield High School. The concert will benefit two local families, struggling with illnesses, that “need to know they are loved by the community,” she explained.

Funeral services were held at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manassas, Va. on Nov. 15, 2017 for Charles Edward Jones, Sr., 78, of Haymarket, Va., who joined his Lord in heaven on Nov. 9, 2017. Interment was at Stonewall Memory Gardens. His son, Pastor Charles Edward Jones, Jr. officiated.

William Carl Puckett, retired airline captain, farmer, flight instructor, musician, father of three

William “Carl” Puckett of Nokesville died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 15, 2017. Funeral services will be private.

VFW Post 7589 Veterans have been busy with a visit to Manassas Christian School, 9296 W. Carondelet Dr., Manassas Park, 20111, for a Salute to Veterans on Nov. 3; for a unit in the Manassas Veterans Parade on Nov. 4 and for a Dinner for Veterans and Auxiliary at the Post Hall before the Nov. 6 General Membership Meeting. Activities the rest of the week include school visits, a memorial service and buddy poppy drive.
