World Trade Center Steel Comes to PWC

Four pieces of steel from the collapse of the World Trade Center after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks came to Prince William County June 16. They'll be temporarily housed at the Public Safety Training Center in Nokesville until a decision on how and where they'll be displayed in the county is reached.

Athletes and parents must attend concussion session

Prince William County Schools announced parents and students must attend informational sessions on concussions before students can try out for sports teams. The county school board adopted a concussion policy in April 2011. Information on sessions at individual middle and high schools will be available from those schools after July 1.

Half-staff flags in memory of Va. Tech shootings in 2007

Governor Glenn Youngkin ordered that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in memory and respect of the 16th Anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting. Some 32 people were killed in this incident.

Pat Conroy, who served four consecutive two-year terms as mayor of Occoquan, from July 1998 through June 2006, recently passed away in Florida.
