Fire and Rescue System Chief Kevin McGee has announced his retirement from Prince William County government service on Jan. 11, 2019 after 39 years. Deputy Chief Tim Keen will serve as Acting Chief of the Fire and Rescue System, according to a county news release.

Prince William County Landfill and Balls Ford Road Yard Waste Facility will close at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24 and remain closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday.

U.S. Marine John Kuhnle has joined Congressman Rob Wittman's staff in the Stafford district office. Kuhnle was selected through the House of Representatives Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program. He will assist with Veterans case work and outreach efforts.
Freestate Farms has a contract with Prince William County to run the Balls Ford Road Composting facility, as well as build an advanced composting facility to greatly improve yard waste processing and boost the capacity to process other food waste.
Virginia State Police (VSP) will conduct a focused High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) enforcement on Interstate 66 inside the Beltway Thursday, December 13th, during morning and afternoon rush hour periods, according to a news release from the office of Del. Tim Hugo.

The Board of County Supervisors will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Minnieville Road project on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be held in the parking lot of Howison Park, located 14716 Minnieville Road.
After being located in Arlington and Fairfax counties for 67 years, Kena Shriners will open new headquarters in Manassas at 9500 Technology Dr. this Saturday, Dec. 15, in a ceremony from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
