Screening program expanded for Virginia newborns

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced June 15 that Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, or SCID, will be one of the disorders that every Virginia-born infant is screened for. The disease, which is fatal if not detected early, affects approximately one out of every 50,000 live births.

VDOT will host a “Pardon Our Dust” meeting Wednesday, June 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Chorus Room at Brentsville District High School, 12109 Aden Road in Nokesville.
