Marian A. Snyder, 99, of Gainesville, mother of two, hospital gift shop volunteer

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marian A. Snyder of Gainesville, VA and formerly of Greenwich, CT. will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church, North Street, Greenwich, CT on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. Mrs. Snyder, 99, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024, with her family by her side. 

Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich, CT. will follow the Mass.

Marian was born on Jan. 1, 1925 in Bronx, NY. She met the love of her life, her wonderful husband, Edward, (deceased) in New York, and they married in 1945. They had two children, USCG Capt. Christopher Jon Snyder of Gainesville, VA (deceased) and Carey Snyder Gangitano of Potomac, MD.

Marian worked for US Tobacco in Greenwich, CT for more than 15 years. After retiring from UST in 1992, Marian enjoyed working part time for many years in both Hoagland’s of Greenwich in Greenwich, CT and the Whitney Shop in New Canaan, CT. 

She was a member of the Greenwich Hospital Auxiliary, volunteering in the gift shop in sales and buying for 14 years.

After relocating to Virginia several years ago, she continued her hospital volunteer work in the gift shop at the Prince William Medical Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Carey Snyder Gangitano, (Ralph) and their two children, Christian James Gangitano of New York, NY and Alexandra Edward Gangitano (Bryan Petrich) of Washington, DC.

She is also survived by her daughter in law, Catherine, (wife of deceased son Christopher) and their two children, Keith Edward Snyder of Gainesville, VA and Corey Jon Snyder (Chelsea) of Gainesville, VA, and their two children Logan and Hayden.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of a donation in Marian Snyder’s name to the Greenwich Hospital Auxiliary, 5 Perry Ridge Road, Greenwich, CT 06830.
