Father, 58, charged with death of infant son 39 years after boy died

On February 15, 2023, detectives with the Prince William County Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau charged a 58-year-old man in connection with the death of his infant son which stemmed from an incident that occurred at the family’s then-residence located in the 9600 block of Lafayette Ave in Manassas (20109) in November 1984.

Curbside yard waste collection resumes in March

The curbside yard waste collection program in Prince William County runs from March through December. The yard waste collection, separate from trash and recycling and performed by a resident’s trash and recycling service provider, occurs weekly. Residents, businesses, apartments, landscapers, etc., are required to arrange a separate collection of yard waste, leaves, and brush.

Marine trash collection system wins award for PWC Department of Public Works

Micron Corporation, PWC Public Works and PWC Parks are sharing the American Public Works Association spotlight for a watershed restoration project along Neabsco Creek. Micron put up the funds to purchase and install an in-creek trash collection system known as a Bandalong. “Marine debris and trash in our waterways have been a growing environmental issue. People are looking for solutions other than volunteer cleanups,” PWC Environmental Specialist Tim Hughes said. “It’s much safer and easier. All the trash gets collected in the Bandalong.”

Space heater fire displaces three residents when Dale City home catches fire Jan. 31

On Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023 at 4:08 PM, Prince William fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 13000 block of Redstone Drive (Dale City) for a reported house fire. Smoke was showing and occupants were out of the structure, according to Matt Smolsky, assistant fire chief and fire marshal. No injuries were reported, Smolsky said.

On Sunday, Jan. 28, 2023 at approximately, 10:30 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to a shots fired call from inside of the 9400 block of West Street, in the City of Manassas, VA (CJ Finz restaurant). Upon arrival police discovered that a subject entered the bathroom and a loud noise, believed to be a gun shot, was heard by patrons.
