PWC police continue to investigate July 25 accidental shooting of Woodbridge boy, 4

Prince William County VA Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a four-year-old boy of Woodbridge boy, 4, on July 15, after a family member called to report a gunshot wound to the head at 3:25 p.m. At this time, it appears the shooting was accidental and that the injury was self-inflicted, according to Officer Jonathan Perok, police spokesman. The name of the deceased was released July 26.

Earthquake drill to recall first anniversary of Mineral quake

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management has announced that there will be a regional earthquake drill Oct. 18 at 10:18 a.m. in the southeast United States, and Virginia has signed on as a participant. Columbia Gas warns utility customers of “Energy Credit” scam

Columbia Gas has issued an alert to its customers and the public that scammers are offering gas and electric utility customers an “energy credit” to be applied to their utility bills and furnishing false bank routing and account numbers for customers to make a utility payment by computer or phone. Customers have to register for the credit by furnishing personal information and account numbers.

Help save bees, bats, butterflies and other pollinators in Virginia

June 18-24 is Virginia Pollinator Week and people of all ages and all across the state are being asked to do something to help save bees, bats, butterflies, birds, moths, beetles, insects and other pollinators - that provide an essential service in making food crops grow.
