Few, if any, would question the need for more swim lanes in Prince William County. The Prince William County School Board is looking at an aquatics facility to be located at the school division's 12th high school, set to open in the fall of 2016. The board is split as to the advisability of the proposed facility.

The old green barn that once held winning horses now holds local homegrown or homemade treasures. On Sunday afternoons, visitors can roam those stalls in search for the perfect find at this producer-only market which has been serving the area for 15 years.

Nearly 70 Virginia organizations are receiving funds through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) based on revenue-sharing special license plate sales during the past year. The plates helped generate approximately $3.5 million for their favorite causes and colleges, with Friends of the Chesapeake Bay receiving the most.

Local residents are still needed to host members of a group of French students (mostly boys) who have signed up to come to this area for three weeks in August to experience the "American Way of Life" through LEC (Loisirs Culturels A IÕEtranger), a Paris-based organization that promotes international friendship via family homestays.

Organizers of the State Fair of Virginia are accepting applications from Virginia-based performers for the event’s local music venue, the Triple Crown Amphitheater at The Meadow Event Park. One-hour slots are available on each day of the fair’s 10-day run Sept. 27-Aug. 6. There is no fee or payment involved.

It’s official! The City of Manassas has been designated the World Record Holder from Guinness World Records for the largest game of Red Light/Green Light. On May 4, 2013 the City of Manassas Neighborhood Services attempted the world record for this game during the Big Day of Serving 2013.
