Dominion Power files plan to build big solar project in Fauquier

Dominion Virginia Power filed an application with the Virginia State Corporation Commission Jan. 20, to build a 20-megawatt solar project on approximately 125 acres of land owned by the company near the Remington Power Station in Fauquier County. Facility would be capable of generating enough electricity at peak capacity to power 5,000 homes and be operational in 2016.

Day-long storm in forecast: Snow and ice will impact both rush hours tomorrow, Jan. 14, says VDOT

Virginia Department of Transportation is asking drivers to prepare for a day-long storm tomorrow that could make driving hazardous in northern Virginia. Drivers are asked to monitor weather forecasts today, and consider teleworking or delaying travel tomorrow. Drivers are also asked to plan for a longer than normal commute, with snow predicted in the morning and hazardous sleet and freezing rain beginning in the afternoon.

Legislators send letter to about power line proposal

Del. Bob Marshall and State Sen. Richard Black have written a letter to the president of about "the adverse impact which the new high voltage lines required to serve the data center, will have on residences, historic designated areas, and significant future economic development."
