Several projects in the works for Litter Awareness Month in PWC

Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB) is marking Litter Awareness Month.  The month of April, or Prince William County’s Litter Awareness Month, gives KPWB the opportunity to raise litter awareness, the laws associated with litter, and the social and environmental effects that littering has on our community. 

Some of KPWB’s highlights during Litter Awareness Month include events tailored to providing educational outreach on these topics as well as opportunities to keep Prince William clear of unsightly trash and recyclables.

While community cleanups are happening daily, KPWB will be kicking off the 2015 Earth Day festivities at the Earth Day Celebration at Historic Haymarket on April 11th, giving local vendors and businesses a chance to bring awareness to environmental issues. 

Other eco-centered events include KPWB’s participation at the Prince William-Manassas regional science fair, an Earth Day Celebration at the Plaza, and Compost Awareness Day on April 25. 

KPWB’s penultimate event is The Annual Route 1 Clean-Sweep, on April 18.  The goal of the Clean-Sweep is to revive areas of Prince William County, with the help and support of our many dedicated volunteers. 
KPWB is not the only organization to celebrate Litter Awareness Month. 

During the month of April, police officers will also have increased concentration on litter laws, illegal dumping and unsecured truck load legislation through increased ticketing and prosecution for litter-related discrepancies.
