A major component of Prince William County homeless services is sheltering. The county coordinates services at two shelters in the county, as well as a drop-in center, to serve various segments of the homeless population, which numbered 400 at the last count in 2016.

Construction of a boardwalk over Neabsco Creek to connect Rippon Landing Community Park to the Julie A. Metz Wetlands Preserve has begun. The nearly mile-long boardwalk is scheduled to be completed by December 2018. When completed, the boardwalk will become part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail.
