Register by March 16 for the annual STEM career conference to be held Saturday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to noon at Marsteller Middle School. The event is for students in grades 5–12 and interested parents, community leaders, and educators.

Almost everyone recognizes the motto of the Boy Scouts of America as, “Be Prepared,” but most people are unaware of its slogan, “Do a Good Turn Daily.” The Scouts of Troop 581 in Gainesville paid forward enough good turns during the Blizzard of 2016 to have fulfilled its slogan for months.
The PWCS Annual Food Show will be held at Patriot High School in Nokesville on Tuesday, March 15. The tastings are open to the first 1,000 county students, parents, and staff to sign up in advance. There will be two tastings, one from 6–7 p.m. and a second from 7–8 p.m.
The Elementary School Naming Committee has rescheduled its second community meeting to Feb. 16 to receive name suggestions for the “Ferlazzo” Elementary School, under construction in Woodbridge and due to open in the fall.
The School Board has rescheduled two planned Budget Work Sessions Feb. 18 and March 3 both at 6 p.m. to provide more time for budget considerations.
