Beginning Sunday night, April 28, weather permitting, a portion of the northbound and southbound I-95 general purpose lanes in Prince William County will have nighttime single- and double-lane closures until late fall.
We are now one week away from the scheduled end of the 2017 45-day legislative session of the Virginia General Assembly. We are finishing our committee work, reviewing amendments from the Senate, and working on the budget.

Fatal Crash Investigation – On February 18 at 1:38AM, investigators from the Prince William County Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Mapledale Ave and Meadowbrook Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a crash involving two motorcycles.

Homicide Investigation – On February 17 at 6:22PM, Prince William County police officers responded to a residence located in the 7300 block of Forrester Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a stabbing. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male and an adult female suffering from stab wounds to the body. The female victim was pronounced dead on scene.
Friends of Rural Crescent Energized (FORCE) will hold an informational update meeting on the proposed mosque at the corner of Schaeffer Lane and Vint Hill Road in Nokesville. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department on Marsteller Drive.
Funeral arrangements are pending for Michele B. McQuigg, Prince William Clerk of Court since 2008.

Del. Eileen Filler-Corn’s bill to allow women to obtain a year’s supply of birth control pills at one time, passed the House on February 7th, cleared the Senate Feb. 16 and will be sent to the Governor’s desk. HB 2267 will require health insurance plans that cover contraceptives to allow women to purchase a year’s supply of birth control pills at one time.

The General Assembly Building in Richmond will be torn down this year and replaced by 2022. In the meantime, the General Assembly offices will be moved down the hill to the Pocahontas Building, which sits at the foot of Capitol Hill, about 150 yards from the current location.

Margaret Mitchell McLeod Price, a teacher at Stonewall Middle School (now Unity Braxton) in Manassas for 26 years until her retirement in 1999, died Jan. 26, 2024. She was an avid traveler and had visited 49 states and numerous foreign countries.
