Social action awareness forum on Sept. 24 in Manassas

On Saturday, Sept. 24, Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will host a social action forum to educate and empower the community on four timely topics. This information packed, free forum will be from 10 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Church of Manassas, 9258 Center Street, Manassas.

Martino named Prince William’s county executive

Prince William Board of County Supervisors appointed Christopher Martino County Executive during its Sept. 20 meeting. Martino has been serving as Acting County Executive since the Jan. 16 retirement of the previous County Executive, Melissa Peacor.

Trash and recycling issue at The Nokesville School

Prince William County asks residents using The Nokesville School recycling and trash site on Saturdays to please observe the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items are being left before the service provider arrives. If this continues to be an issue, the county's Solid Waste Division says this service may have to be cancelled.

Todd Lupton now deputy chief of fire & rescue for Manassas City

Fire and Rescue Chief Rob Clemons announced Sept. 19 the selection of Todd E. Lupton as Deputy Chief of Fire and Rescue for the City of Manassas. Lupton has been with the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue System since 2011, serving as Battalion Chief.

Free class series for Alzheimer’s caregivers in PWC, Manassas, Manassas Park
