The Prince William Area Agency on Aging, which serves Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, is partnering with the Alzheimer's Association to offer a series of free classes this fall to help caregivers.

Prince William Conservation Alliance will host an open house at its headquarters, 2241F Tackett’s Mill Drive, Woodbridge, Sept. 21, 5 to 7:30 p.m.

A preliminary description of suspects is of several Hispanic males occupying two vehicles that were seen leaving the area together - one dark gray Mercedes sedan and the other a dark Honda sedan with loud exhaust.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, 2016, Manassas City Police was dispatched for a report of shots fired. Officers learned that one juvenile male, one adult male, and one adult female were walking in the area of 9800 Maury Ln when they were shot at from a vehicle that quickly left the scene.

Statewide challenges in specific subject areas earned eight schools differing accreditation designations from the state. Meanwhile, the accreditation status of one middle school in Woodbridge may be in jeopardy, despite new and ongoing efforts, and some success in fixing performance challenges there.

Bonnie Atwood of Richmond, VA and a former reporter for The Journal Messenger newspaper in Manassas, was named runnerup for the 2016 Communicator of Achievement Award given by the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW).
