Brentsville Supervisor Wally Covington donated $5,000 to Parkside Middle School as matching funds for the school's single-event fall fundraiser. The money will go to technology upgrades at the Manassas school in Prince William County. Covington made good on his promise at the opening night of the Manassas school's "Beauty and the Beast" presentation in early May. No one hurt in a May 4 fire on Old Carolina Road in Gainesville

A fundraiser at Battlefield High School was held May 7 to raise funds for a new Gainesville library. Thousands of Legos were available for those who wanted to build something cool. Many youngsters came out to enjoy the day. They could bounce in the moonbounce, check out the many vendors, buy some used books or bid on more than 70 silent-auction items.
