Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative has opened applications for area public, private or home-schooled high school sophomores or juniors for the annual National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Youth Tour, June 10-14, 2018, to see government in action.

Due to inclement weather conditions, Manassas Park City Schools will be closing early today, Jan. 8 (MPMS and MPHS at 11:45am; CES and MPES at 12:30pm).

Prince William County Public Schools will close three hours early today, Monday, Jan. 8, due to predicted inclement weather and freezing road surfaces in some areas.

Interested parents are invited to attend a free workshop addressing ADHD and behavior management from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Arc of Greater Prince William/Muriel Humphrey Center, 13505 Hillendale Drive in Woodbridge. Arc of Greater Prince William and the PWCS Office of Special Education Parent Resource Center are hosting. Dr. James Crist, clinical director of Child & Family Counseling Center in Woodbridge, will speak.

High school parents, and parents of eighth-graders, mark the date of Prince William County Schools winter High School Parent Summit on your calendars. This event will be held at Hylton High School on Saturday, Jan. 6, from 8–11:30 a.m.

Prince William County School Board will receive "Plan 6" recommendations for adjusting attendance areas for Montclair, Neabsco, and Wilson Elementary Schools at its Jan. 3 meeting.

Dr. Steven M. Constantino, Ed.D, a former principal of Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, has been appointed as Acting Superintendent of Public Instruction. Dr. Constantino most recently served as the Chief Academic Officer/Assistant Superintendent, Division of Instruction for the Virginia Department of Education. He is considered a national expert in the field of family engagement and is the author of four books on the subject.
