Supervisor Lega denounces antisemitic symbols and graffiti found on two PWC schools

Coles Supervisor Yesli Vega issued this statement: "Today (April 25, 2024) I was notified that graffiti including antisemitic symbols were found at Coles Elementary and Benton Middle School. I want to express my unwavering support for our Jewish community. In Prince William County, we firmly reject any form of hatred."

Manassas applauds “Hurricane Heroes”

Manassas city officials tipped their collective hats to city public works and utility crews, volunteer and career firefighters and police officers for their work in the wake of Hurricane Sandy and dubbed them "Hurricane Heroes," according to a news release from Patty Prince, public information director.

Manassas City government and Manassas City Public Schools are changing the date for the next citizen engagement opportunity, previously scheduled for Nov. 7. The next opportunity for residents to offer their suggestions and comments regarding City and School Capital Improvement needs will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Mayfield Intermediate School.

PWC to open homeless shelter

Prince William County Government Winter Shelter, operated by the Department of Social Services, will open today, Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 This is two days earlier than normal. The winter shelter normally opens Nov. 1. Social Services decided on the earlier opening because of expected cold weather. Temperatures were in the 40s Tuesday morning.

Prince William County roads closed due to hurricane impact

High water was affecting Prince William County roads Monday afternoon, Oct. 29, and some roads were closed, while others had been reopened, according to an update from Jason Grant, director of communications.

Prince William County has solicited entries in a design competition to add to its 9-11 memorial- Liberty Memorial at Freedom Park - using four steel beams acquired from the destroyed World Trade Center. The board of supervisors will be making a selection from one of a dozen submissions, from around the country and from both design companies and individuals, according to Tracy Gordon, assistant to the county administrator.
