29 update on 29th: VDOT slates June 29 virtual update on rehab of Cub Run Bridge (Rt. 29 north )

Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a virtual construction update Wednesday, June 29 starting at 7 p.m. on work to rehabilitate northbound Route 29 (Lee Highway) bridge over Cub Run to improve driver and pedestrian safety and extend the overall life of the bridge. The bridge was originally built in 1954, some 68 years ago.

AARP urges passage of Senate Bill 376 to lower prescription drug costs in Virginia

AARP Virginia Jan. 20 released the following statement from State Advocacy Director Natalie Snider after Senate Bill 376 was referred to the Senate Commerce & Labor committee for consideration. SB376 would establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board with the authority to set upper payment limits on certain expensive drugs.

Governor declares state of emergency in advance of winter weather expected this week

Weather closes Community Vaccination Centers today; check for future hours

Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has closed five of its Community Vaccination Centers (CVCs) today Friday, January 7, 2022, due to expected inclement weather. Individuals with appointments will be notified of the cancellation and can visit to reschedule. PW Community Testing Cener to open soon.
