Parts of I-95 in PWC will be closed Sunday thru Thursday nights until Fall

Beginning Sunday night, April 28, weather permitting, a portion of the northbound and southbound I-95 general purpose lanes in Prince William County will have nighttime single- and double-lane closures until late fall.

Haymaker STEM Expo and College Fair at Battlefield High School rescheduled to Feb. 6

Battlefield High School invites the community to attend the Haymaker STEM Expo on Saturday, Feb. 6, rescheduled from Jan. 23. The event will offer a multitude of family-friendly activities for students and adults of all ages. Admission is free, and the event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Opening of new Habitat ReStore rescheduled to Jan. 30

Saturday's expected snow storm has caused the grand opening of Habitat for Humanity's ReStore at its new location to be rescheduled to Saturday, Jan. 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ReStore's new location is in the shopping center at the corner of Hastings Drive and VA 234 (Dumfries Rd.) near the Prince William County Fairgrounds.

All Prince William County schools opening two hours late Tuesday, Jan. 19

On Tuesday, January 19, All Prince William County Public Schools will open two hours late due to the projected sub-zero temperatures in the morning. SACC will open two hours late. These precautions will ensure the safety of all students, especially the thousands who walk to school.

New ways to get news about House of Delegates’ committees

New technology software system will allow the public and all interested individuals to sign up for e-mail notifications for committee meetings. The House has also created a Twitter account for each committee and many subcommittees to allow the public to follow committee meetings from their computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Precautionary evacuation at Glenkirk Elementary School due to phone threat; all safe

UPDATE: Glenkirk Elementary School students are being transported to Marsteller Middle School as a precaution due to the cold temperatures while police continue their investigation. Lunch will be provided. To ensure orderly transportation, students will NOT be released to parents from Glenkirk. Those insisting on picking up students should go to Masteller Middle School. This will ensure a safe orderly process for everyone. All students are safe and fully supervised.

Jan. 12 groundbreaking for new Central District Police Station

The community is invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. to celebrate the start of construction on the Central District Police Station.

Community invited to PWC celebration of Universal Human Rights Day on Jan.16

Phyllis Aggrey, the Executive Director of the Human Rights Commission, said the celebration beginning at 9 a.m. will include the Human Rights Awards, which are given each year to people who have provided unique contributions to the community.
