Suspect arrested in murder of two men in Woodbridge June 22

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Prince William County Police Department's Homicide Unit identified a suspect sought in connection to the double murder that occurred in the Featherstone area of Woodbridge (22191) on June 22, 2019.

Renovations to Theatre at Vint Hill ready for “Christmas Carol” opening on Dec. 4

In an unique cooperative partnership between Fauquier County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Fauquier Community Theatre, the inside of the theatre building at Vint Hill is being renovated and will be ready for the patrons of FCT’s Christmas production of Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, that opens next weekend on Dec. 4 for a three-weekend run.

Fauquier Schools to participate in earthquake drill Oct. 15

Fauquier County Public Schools will participate in an earthquake drill on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 10:15 a.m. The drill is part of the fourth annual Great SouthEast ShakeOut, a multi-state simultaneous earthquake drill in which participants practice the recommended action to take during an actual earthquake.

Fauquier County Public Schools will participate in a tornado drill on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 1:30 p.m. All schools and departments in the school division will participate.

Fauquier Schools reminds parents of physical exam and immunizations requirements

Parents and guardians are reminded that, by law, all kindergartners must have at least one dose of required immunizations, and all sixth-grade students are required to have a tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis booster vaccination (TDaP). Also, all newly enrolled kindergarten through fifth-grade students must have a physical in order to start school.

GIS/GPS Geospatial Research Seminar to be offered at Liberty High in Fauquier Co.

For the first time, Liberty High School seniors and juniors in Fauquier County may take a one-semester course on geographic information systems (GIS) and other geospatial technology while earning college credit from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.

SOL retakes now an option for students at all levels

In March of this year the state Board of Education voted to allow elementary and middle school students who fail Standards of Learning (SOL) tests by narrow margins or because of extenuating circumstances this spring to be retested before the end of the year – provided that school divisions first secure parental permission.

June 3 will be the last day of school in Fauquier County

Wednesday, June 3 will be the final day of school for Fauquier County Public Schools unless FCPS misses any more time due to inclement weather (for example, spring flooding).

Fauquier school board revises calendar; full day Friday, March 13

This Friday, March 13, will be a full day of instruction in Fauquier County Public Schools, instead of the half day originally noted on the school-year calendar.
