A grand opening celebration for community and business leaders from 4 to 6 p.m. on June 12 will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new façade, visitor corridor and healing garden.

On Tuesday, June 5, at approximately 1 p.m., Manassas City Police received a call from Prince William County Police Emergency Communications Center advising receipt of a 9-1-1 call from an unknown male stating he had a gun and was experiencing a mental health crisis near a Manassas City Public School. The phone call was disconnected before the dispatcher could obtain further information. Manassas City Public Schools immediately implemented a lockdown at all City schools.

The Regular Business Meeting of the School Board of the City of Manassas scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 7 p.m., has been cancelled because of the (police directed) lockdown status at all City schools, according to Alba Garza, Clerk of the School Board, Manassas City Public Schools.

On May 30, detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit charged a suspect in connection to a fight resulting in a shooting which occurred in the 7400 block of Willoughby Ln in Manassas on May 24. The investigation revealed that an off-duty Prince William County sheriff’s deputy, who resided on the property as a security resident, responded from his residence to the sounds of shots being fired in the parking lot area of the complex.

On May 24 at 11:16PM, Prince William County police officers responded to the Fields of Manassas apartment complex located in the 7400 block of Willoughby Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a shots fired call. When officers arrived in the area, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. That man was transported to an area hospital for treatment and has since been released.
