Sarah Henry of Gainesville now permanent director of PW Area Agency on Aging

The Board of County Supervisors announced that Sarah Henry of Gainesville is the new Director of the Prince William Area Agency on Aging during its Sept. 8 meeting.  Henry, who has served in an acting capacity for the past 12 months, was named to the top spot after a nationwide search, according to Jason grant, director of communications for the county.

Henry has been with the Prince William Area Agency on Aging for the past nine years. She began her career with the Agency as the Recreation, Socialization and Activities Specialist. Within 18 months she was promoted to the Fiscal and Administrative Manager. For the past year, Henry has served as the Acting Director, overseeing and managing the Agency’s $5.5 million annual budget and 35 employees.

“Throughout her career here in Prince William County, Sarah Henry has been a tremendous asset to the Area Agency on Aging and the senior population of Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park,” Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, was quoted as saying in a press release.

She has worked her way through the ranks, demonstrated great commitment to the Area Agency on Aging’s mission, and proven her ability to meet the needs of one of our most vital and growing populations here in Prince William County.”

“It is an honor and privilege to be given this opportunity,” said Henry. “I have spent my career here in Prince William County with some amazing coworkers who are devoted to serving our aging population. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to serve this community and to help our residents address the unique life experiences that faced by our aging population and their caregivers.”

Henry received her undergraduate degree from the Waldron School of Health and Human Services at Radford University. Prior to coming to Prince William County, she served as a Recreation Specialist and Program Coordinator for the City of Manassas.
