PWC Police Beat 11/16/11

Crash – Fatality
On Nov. 15 at 2:36 p.m., police responded to the area of Lee Highway near Sudley Road in Manassas for a crash. The investigation revealed that the driver, and only occupant, of a 2006 Kenworth T800 dump truck was traveling southbound on Lee Highway when the driver crossed into the northbound lane striking the rear panel of a 2002 Ford F-350. The dump truck then overcorrected back into the southbound lanes then back into the northbound lanes striking a 2004 Honda CR-V head on. The driver, and only occupant, of the Honda CR-V, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were four occupants in the F-350. The driver of the Ford F-350 sustained a minor injury as a result of the crash. All parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or speed were factors in this collision. Charges have not been placed at the time of this update. Investigation continues. The driver of the 2004 Honda CR-V has been identified as Daniel S. Tulk, 40, of South Riding. The driver of the dump truck, a 2006 Kenworth T800, has been identified as a 65-year-old man of Alexandria. The driver of the 2002 Ford F-350 has been identified as a 40 year old woman of Aldie.

Strong Armed Robbery
On Nov. 15 at 5:59 p.m., police responded to Potomac Mills Mall at 2700 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge for a strong armed robbery. The female victim, 21 of Bryans Road, Md., reported to police that she and another family member were walking down a hallway inside the mall when they were approached by an unknown man. The man snatched the victim’s cell phone, valued around $300, from her hands and fled the mall on foot. No injuries were reported. A black male, between 16 & 20, 5’08” 150 lbs., thin build. Last seen wearing a dark colored North Face-style jacket, black pants and a blue baseball style hat.
