PWC Crime Report for Feb. 19, 2024: Man arrested after police evacuate family from home

• Carjacking | Strong-Arm Robbery *ARREST –
On Feb. 18, 2024 at 5:40PM,  Prince William County Police officers responding to an unrelated call for service observed the suspect wanted in connection with a robbery that was reported to have occurred in the 14200 block of Smoketown Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) on Feb.  11. The suspect, identified as Ibrahim BARRIE Jr., fled on foot and was subsequently arrested after a lengthy foot chase.

Carjacking | Strong-Arm Robbery [Previously Released] – On Feb.11, 2024 at 5:55PM,  Prince William County Police officers responded to the 14200 block of Smoke- town Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed the victim, an 18-year-old man, drove a group of men, including an acquaintance later identified as the accused, to a parking lot in the above area. \
At one point, the accused and another man from the group chased the victim to the median area of Smoketown Rd. where he was tackled. During the encounter, the suspects struck the victim and took his phones, wallet, and keys before a Good Samaritan intervened to separate the parties. The suspects ran back to the victim’s vehicle and fled the area. The victim reported minor injuries.
While investigating the incident, officers located the vehicle unoccupied in the area of Westminister Ln. During the investigation, officers identified the accused as Ibrahim BARRIE Jr., and obtained arrest warrants. The investigation continues as detectives attempt to identify the other suspects and locate the accused.

• Burglary While Armed *ADDITIONAL ARREST – On Feb.16, 2024 a second suspect, identified as Kevin Vincent BROWN, was arrested in connection to the home invasion that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 7400 block of Peppertree Ln. in Manassas (20111) on Jan. 29, 2024.  Another suspect was previously arrested in connection with incident on Feb. 1. The investigation continues as detectives seek to identify the remaining suspect involved.

Charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, abduction, burglary while armed, burglary, impersonating a law enforcement officer, and grand larceny

Burglary While Armed [Previously Released] – On January 29 at 1:53AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7400 block of Peppertree Ln. in Manassas (20111) to investigate a home invasion. The investigation revealed three armed men entered the home through an unsecured door and brandished a firearm towards the victim, a 19-year-old woman. During the encounter, one of the sus- pects implied they were law enforcement officers and prevented the victim from leaving the room. The suspects then took a box containing jewelry and money before all three suspects fled the home. No injuries were reported. While investigating the incident, detectives identified one of the suspects and obtained warrants for his arrest. On February 1, the suspect, identified as Orlin
Jasel CARCAMO, was taken into custody without incident. The investigation continues as detectives seek to identify the other parties involved in the incident.

INCIDENTS
• Shooting Investigation –
On Feb, 17, 2024 at 11:27PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to investigate a shooting reported to have occurred in the 4300 block of Dale Blvd in Woodridge (22193) earlier that evening. Officers were notified of a 20-year-old man being treated at an area hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. The man was not forthcoming with information as to what led up to the injury or further on a possible suspect(s) involved in the altercation. No crime scene or evidence of a shooting were located. This incident does not appear to be random and there is no threat to the community.

• Shooting Investigation – On Feb. 17 at 11:07AM, Prince William County Policeofficers responded to investigate a shooting that was reported to have occurred in the 10800 block of Balls Ford Rd in Manassas (20109) earlier that morning. Officers were notified of a 50-year-old man being treated at an area hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. The man was not forthcoming with information as to what led up to the injury or further on a possible suspect(s) involved in the altercation. No crime scene or evidence of a shooting were located. This incident does not appear to be random and there is no threat to the community, according to police.

• Strong-Armed Robbery – On Feb. 17, 2024 at 6:48PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the 13500 block of Richmond Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed the victim, a 47-year-old woman, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated physically. During the encounter, the accused forcibly took the victim’s cell phone and broke it on the ground before taking her purse. The accused then got into a vehicle and left the area. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was located in front of the suspect’s residence on Stafford St where the purse was recovered. The accused was not located. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Victor Manuel DIMAS BARILLAS. Attempts to locate the accused were unsuccessful.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On Feb. 16, 2024 at 8:20PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the 11800 block of Bristow Rd in Bristow (20136) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed the caller observed an unknown man firing a weapon in a field adjacent to his property. The man was a described as a black male with short crewcut-style hair driving a blue sedan. The man fled the area at a high rate of speed. No injuries or property damage were reported. Multiple shell casings were found in the area where the man was reported to be firing the weapon.

• Residential Burglary – On Feb. 16, 2024 at 2:46PM, officers responded to the Potomac Ridge Apartments located in the 2800 block of Woodmark Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed sometime between Feb. 5 and Feb. 16, the apartment was entered through an unsecured window. Clothing items were reported missing.

ARRESTS
• Attempted Malicious Wounding of a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO]
– On Feb. 17 at 9:20AM,  Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence in the 7800 block of Carrick Dr in Gainesville (20155) to investigate an initial report of a domestic dispute with weapons. The investigation revealed the accused was armed with a handgun and involved in a verbal dispute with other family members inside the home.
When officers arrived on scene, they observed the accused through a window on an upper floor of the home. As officers were evacuating other family members from the home, including four children, the accused fired a round from the upper floor towards officers and his family members. No injuries were reported, and all occupants were escorted to safety. The accused eventually surrendered to police without further incident. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Jessy William SZYPULSKI, was arrested.

• Armed Robbery – On Feb. 18, 2024 at 3:39PM,  Prince William County Police officers responded to the OH Market located at 7412 Stream Walk Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed an employee confronted the accused who was attempting to steal beer from the store. During the encounter, the accused pulled out a knife and threatened the employee before fleeing the business on foot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers located the accused in the area and detained him without further incident.
Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Lazaro SILVA, was arrested.

• Strong-Armed Robbery | Domestic Assault & Battery – On Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024 at 7:23AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 8000 block of Clifton St in Manassas (20109) to investigate a domestic dispute. The investigation revealed the victim, a 36-year-old woman, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated physically. During the encounter, the victim was struck in the face. At one point, the accused forcibly took the victim’s phone from another adult acquaintance before leaving the home. Minor injuries were reported. The accused was later located and arrested at his residence without incident. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Mario Soto ALANIS, was arrested.

• Residential Burglary – On Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024 at 7:37AM,  Prince William County Police officers responded to the Orchard Mills Apartments located in the 3200 block of Blazer Lp in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed the accused was in an intoxicated state and under the influence of narcotics. The accused attempted to forcibly enter a neighboring apartment by breaking the glass patio door. The resident of the apartment was able to use the couch to prevent the accused from entering. Officers arrived and detained the accused without further incident. No injuries were reported, and no property was taken. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Lamont FULTON, was arrested. During a search post arrest, the accused was found in possession of suspected narcotics and paraphernalia. The accused was transported to an area hospital for evaluation due to intoxication.
