Prince William police identify body found in Manassas retention pond – missing since Feb. 4

Incidents and arrests released by Prince William County Police Department on Wednesday, April 13, 2016:

**UPDATES**
Death Investigation *VICTIM IDENTIFIED – Detectives from the Homicide Unit have positively identified the body located on March 29 in a retention pond in the 7300 block of Williamson Blvd in Manassas (20109). The victim was previously reported as missing and endangered on February 4. Detectives are currently working in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death. There is no public threat or need for concern from the surrounding community as this incident does not appear to be random and no foul play is suspected at this time. The investigation continues.

Identified:The victim has been identified as Rose Marie DITORO, 23, of Annandale

Death Investigation [Previously Released] – On March 29 at 4:02PM, officers responded to investigate human remains located in a retention pond in the 7300 block of Williamson Blvd in Manassas (20109). Officers with the Dive Team recovered the remains which were then transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination and identification. The identity of the deceased will be released once confirmed and next of kin is notified. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues. 

**INCIDENTS**

Residential Burglary | Malicious Wounding – On April 12 at 11:18PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3300 block of Vineland Pl in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a burglary in progress. When officers arrived on scene, they located the victim, a 46 year old man of Dumfries, suffering from serious, non-life threatening stab wounds to the face and neck. The victim was flown to an area hospital for treatment. During the investigation, it was determined that the victim returned to the residence and found an unknown man wearing a mask standing in the victim’s bedroom attempting to take some property. During the encounter, a struggle ensued between the victim and the suspect. Another resident of the home heard the struggle and attempted to intervene. At some point, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. The victim and other resident were able to flee the home and contact police while the suspect fled out a rear door. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect who was not located. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. No suspect description is available at this time. This incident was not random.  The investigation continues.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On April 13 at 2:37AM, officers responded to the 4400 block of Daisy Reid Ave in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shots fired call. Several callers reported to police that multiple gunshots were heard in the above area. Witnesses reported seeing an unknown man running from the area then a dark SUV driving away at the time of the incident.  No damage was immediately discovered at that time.  At 11:08AM, a caller reported to police that single bullet holes were located in two vehicles which were parked in the above area. Officers checked the area and located a bullet and several shell casings.  No injuries or other property damage were reported.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On April 12 at 10:11PM, officers responded to the 15000 block of Cloverdale Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. Several callers reported to police that multiple gunshots were heard in the above area.  Officers checked the area and located several shell casings. No injuries or property damage were reported.
