2022 Homicide Investigation *CASE CLOSURE – On February 13, 2023, detectives with the Violent Crimes Bureau closed the investigation into the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man that occurred in the area of Sudley Manor Dr and Williamson Blvd in Manassas (20109) on August 19, 2022. In the days following the incident, detectives identified a person of interest as being involved. As the investigation continued, detectives further learned the person of interest had been killed in an unrelated incident in Prince George’s County, MD after the reported homicide had occurred in Manassas. Since the incident, detectives continued to review evidence and information collected in the case to confirm the person of interest’s alleged involvement in the Manassas homicide. Based on information and evidence collected during the investigation, detectives linked the person of interest, identified as a 19-year-old man from Manassas, as being responsible for the shooting death of the victim and the malicious injury to a second man that occurred during the altercation. The alleged suspect and the deceased were reportedly known to one another. The investigation revealed the suspect confronted the victim over an owed debt prior to the shooting. Due to the death of the suspect, charges were not obtained in the Manassas homicide investigation; therefore, the identity of the alleged suspect is not being released. At this time, no other individuals are being sought in connection to the incident. The case will be considered closed by exception, death of offender.

Homicide Investigation *SUSPECT IMAGE & REWARD OFFERED [Previously Released] – Detectives with the Violent Crimes Bureau are continuing their efforts to identify and locate the suspect in connection to the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man that occurred in the area of Sudley Manor Dr. and Williamson Blvd in Manassas (20109) on August 19, around 8:30PM. Detectives are releasing images of the suspect and vehicle that were captured during and following the incident. The victim and two male acquaintances were sitting on the sidewalk outside of the 7-Eleven in above area when they were approached by the suspect who appeared from behind the building. After a brief exchange between the victim and suspect, the suspect produced a firearm and firing multiple rounds towards the victim. The victim and one of the other men were struck. The victim died at the scene. One of the male acquaintances sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound, while the third man was uninjured. After the shooting, the suspect ran to a light-colored sedan parked nearby and fled the area. The Police Department is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those involved in this death. The investigation continues.
Homicide Investigation [Previously Released] – On August 19 at 8:28PM, officers responded to the area of Sudley Manor Dr and Williamson Blvd in Manassas (20109) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed the deceased, and another 25-year-old man were in the above area when they were approached by a third man. After a brief exchange, the third man shot towards the two other men before fleeing. Both men were struck during the encounter. Officers arrived in the area and provided medical aid to both men. The deceased died a short time later at the scene. The second man was transported to an area hospital where he’s expected to survive. A police K-9 searched the area for the shooter who was not located. The shooter was later determined to have gotten into a light-colored sedan after the incident. At this time, detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau are actively investigating the incident to determine what led up to the shooting and are seeking to speak with anyone who has information as to what occurred. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.
