Police have no suspects in attempted robbery case on Emerald Drive

Attempted Residential Burglary – On Feb. 17 at 2:25PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7400 block of Emerald Dr. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an attempted burglary.

The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 10:30AM and 2:20PM, entry was attempted into the residence through a side window which was found damaged.

No entry appears to have been made into the home and no property was reported missing.

Child Neglect – On Feb. 7, officers concluded an investigation into a child neglect that was reported to have occurred at the Misty Ridge Apartments located in the 15000 block of Lost Canyon Ct. in Woodbridge (22191) on Dec. 15, 2019.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a 5-year-old boy, was left unattended outside one of the apartments by a family member, identified as the accused, for a significant period of time. The victim was not injured.

Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Carmen SIMPSON, on Dec. 31, 2019. On Feb. 7, the accused turned herself in to police.

Carmen Jacqulin SIMPSON, 30, of the 3400 block of Shandor Rd. in Woodbridge
Charged with child neglect
Court Date: Pending | Bond: $2500 Unsecured Bond
