Manassas city police make arrest in sexual assault cold case from 1975-77

On May 20, 2014 Manassas City Investigators concluded a cold case investigation that spanned over a decade with the arrest of Lawrence E. RUNION.  The investigation, initiated in 1997, involved crimes against two juvenile victims from 1975 to 1977.

RUNION was serving separate charges in Florida when Manassas City Investigators identified him as a suspect in 2009.  Upon his release in 2014, RUNION was extradited from Florida to Virginia where he was served with the long-standing warrants.

On May 20th Lawrence E. REUNION, 64, of 13610 Highway SE-70, Acadia, FL 34266 was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of forcible sodomy, and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.  He was held without bond and has a court date pending in Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court.
