Jan. 26 bomb threats to Unity Reed and Osbourn High schools from same number, police report

• School Bomb Threat Investigation *ARREST –
On February 15, 2023 the suspect sought in connection to the bomb threat that was received at Unity Reed High School located at 8820 Rixlew Ln. in Manassas (20109) on January 26, 2023 was arrested.
While investigating the incident, officers were informed that Manassas City police were also investigating a similar threat to a school in their jurisdiction. Detectives with both agencies began coordinating the investigations into the incidents and determined the same phone number was used to call both schools. Further investigation revealed the suspect was a former student.
Following the investigation, detectives sought petitions for the juvenile who was taken into custody by Richmond City police on February 15. The student, identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile, will remain in the Richmond area until transferred to Prince William County.

School Bomb Threat Investigation [Previously Released] – On January 26 at 1:08PM, the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Unity Reed High School located at 8820 Rixlew Ln. in Manassas (20109) was advised about a bomb threat received at the school. The initial investigation revealed a male caller contacted the school stating he was driving from a location in Manassas City to the school with a bomb in his vehicle. The school along with nearby Ellis Elementary School, secured their buildings as a precaution. Responding officers and additional SROs monitored vehicles arriving in the area. In coordination with school personnel, there was no immediate threat determined. A search of the area was conducted, and no devices were located.

INCIDENTS
• Attempted Malicious Wounding –
On February 13 at 6:42PM, officers responded to Golden Corral located at 10181 Bulloch Dr. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an attempted assault. The investigation revealed the victim, a 42-year-old man, and a family member were inside the restaurant when an unknown man approached the family member. After a brief verbal encounter, the two parties separated. The victim then approached the suspect in the parking lot where a verbal exchange ensued, and the suspect threatened the victim. The parties separated and the suspect got into his vehicle as the victim walked away. While the victim was still in the parking lot, the suspect drove his vehicle toward the victim causing him jump out of the way to avoid being struck. The suspect then fled the area in an unknown type of vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A Hispanic male, 25-27 years old, between 5’8”-6’0”, short hair, and with a tattoo on his neck and arms

• Attempted Commercial Burglary – On February 13 at 11:37PM, Prince William County Policeofficers responded to Manassas Pawn located at 8215 Sudley Rd. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an alarm activation. Video surveillance revealed at approximately 11:14PM, an unknown individual approached the front door of the building where the suspect then attempted to smash the glass front door before walking away. No entry was made into the business and no property was reported missing.

ARRESTS
• Rape Investigation –
On February 10, 2023 detectives with the Prince William County Police Department’s Special Victims Bureau concluded an investigation into a sexual assault that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the Woodbridge (22191) area of Prince William County between April 2013 and April 2014. The investigation revealed the victim, who was under the age of 10 during the time of the offenses, was sexually assaulted on more than one occasion by the accused, who was known to the victim. The victim recently reported the incidents – prompting the police investigation. Following the investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Jairo Luis CASTILLO, who turned himself in to police on February 10.
