Home safety and fall prevention workshop Sept. 17

While falls are a threat to the health and independence of older adults, there are proven interventions that can reduce falls and help older adults live better and longer. People of all ages, but especially older adults, will benefit from fall-proofing their homes and making lifestyle changes to decrease their risk of a fall.

Home Instead in Manassas is hosting a discussion on Wednesday, Sept. 17,  in the company’s community room, of what risk factors to look out for and ways to make home safer for older adults.

Falls are often due to hazards that are easy to overlook but easy to fix. In addition, certain medications and health concerns can cause an increased risk of falling due to balance issues.

This presentation will be given by Corinne Shumaker, Physical Therapist, at Advantage Physical Therapy.

Questions and answers to follow and light refreshments will be served. Home Instead is located at 9817 Godwin Drive #202, Manassas, VA 20110 (near the DMV). RSVP appreciated to Mary Dorss: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 703-530-1360.
