Lots of youngsters enjoyed playing with the thousands of Legos on hand. The May 7 event, held at Battlefield High School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., was a community event designed to bring children and entire families to the school to raise funds for the planned new library, according to Bethanne Kim, who headed the planning of the event. She also noted the silent auction offered something for everyone from plants to playthings.
Dwarakadas Jayakumar and his son Rohan, 2, at right, readied to dive into a pile of Legos while they waited to hear whether Rohan’s brother, Pawan, a third-grader at Tyler Elementary School, placed in the Lego-building competition that welcomed creations from kindergarteners through 12th-graders.
