Five hurt, two seriously, in chain reaction crash near NOVA’s Sudley Rd. entrance/exit

Felony Hit and Run Investigation – On July 31 at 5:01PM, investigators from Prince William County Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit responded to the intersection of Sudley Road and Campus Drive at the entrance/exit for Northern Virginia Community College in Manassas (20109) to investigate a single vehicle crash. The initial investigation revealed that a silver vehicle - attempting to turn onto Sudley Road from Campus Drive - disregarded a stop sign and caused a chain reaction crash.

According to Officer Nathan Probus, spokesman for the police department, the driver of a 2017 BMW 330 traveling northbound on Sudley Rd swerved into the path of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee traveling in the southbound lanes in order to avoid a collision with an unknown silver vehicle.

According to the police reports, the driver of the Jeep attempted to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision with the BMW, but lost control of the vehicle and rolled over multiple times.

As a result of the roll, a passenger of the Jeep who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected and subsequently flown to an area hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Jeep had to be extricated from the vehicle then transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Three additional passengers of the Jeep were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The silver vehicle did not remain at the scene, according to police. The driver of the BMW was not injured and remained on scene.

The driver of the 1998 Jeep Cherokee was identified as a 61-year-old man of Manassas

The passenger ejected from the Jeep Cherokee was identified as a 49-year-old man of Manassas

The three other passengers of the Jeep Cherokee were identified as 49, 40, and 24 year old men
