Fifth suspect arrested in April 4 robbery at Sudley Rd. homeless camp

Armed Robbery *ADDITIONAL ARRESTS – On April 15, detectives from the Robbery Unit identified and arrested a fifth suspect involved in the robbery which occurred at a homeless camp located in the 8000 block of Sudley Rd in Manassas (20109) on April 4. The suspect, identified as Justin Whitfield BRANDON, was subsequently arrested in the Manassas area without incident. Four other suspects were arrested previously in connection to this investigation.
Arrested on April 15:
Justin Whitfield BRANDON, 29, of no fixed address [Arrested: April 15]
Charged with 1 count of robbery, 1 count of abduction, 1 count of assault by mob, and 2 counts of credit card theft
Court Date: May 8, 2017 | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond

Armed Robbery *ADDITIONAL ARRESTS [Previously Released] –  On April 7, detectives from the Robbery Unit identified two additional suspects involved in a robbery that occurred on a homeless camp located in the 8000 block of Sudley Rd in Manassas on April 4.  One of the suspects, identified as William Kyle LEE, was located and arrested later that afternoon.  The fourth suspect, identified as Bryan HAWKINS, was located and arrested without incident on April 10. The investigation continues.

Armed Robbery *ADDITIONAL ARREST [Previously Released] – On April 6, Lorenzo Trey HUFFMAN, the second suspect wanted in connection to an robbery that occurred in a homeless camp located in the 8000 block of Sudley Rd in Manassas on April 4, was located and arrested in Rockingham County without incident.

Armed Robbery *ARREST [Previously Released] – On April 5, Gianella Pamela SALMON, one of the suspects wanted in connection to an robbery that occurred in a homeless camp located in the 8000 block of Sudley Rd in Manassas on April 4, was located and arrested without incident.

Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On April 4 at 8:25PM, officers responded to investigate a robbery that occurred in a homeless camp located in the 8000 block of Sudley Rd in Manassas (20109) earlier that evening. The victim, a 19-year-old man of Manassas, reported to police that he was in the above area when he was approached by several acquaintances. During the encounter, the victim was assaulted. At one point, one of the suspects displayed a knife then took a cell phone and wallet from the victim. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, detectives with the Robbery Unit identified two of the suspects and obtained warrants for their arrests. The investigation continues.

**INCIDENTS**

Malicious Wounding | Attempted Armed Robbery – On April 16 at 11:58PM, officers responded to the area of Smoketown Rd and Burr Ln in Woodbridge (22182) to investigate an attempted robbery. The victim, a 27-year-old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was in the above area when he was approached by an unknown man and woman. During the encounter, the suspects demanded the victim’s property. When the victim refused, the male suspect produced a knife and cut the victim in the arm causing a minor laceration. Following the alteration, the suspects fled the area on foot. A police K-9 searched for the suspects who were not located. No property was taken.

Black male, unknown age, 6’0” with a thin build and dreadlocks
Last seen wearing all dark colored clothing

Abduction | Assault & Battery – On April 16 at 5:08AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 8100 block of Community Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 25-year-old woman of Maryland, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation in front of the residence. During the encounter, the accused grabbed a baby carrier from the victim and pushed her to the ground. The baby carrier held the victim’s 6-month-old child. Once the accused had the baby carrier, he proceeded inside the residence. The victim followed the accused and was able to get the baby carrier away from him. The victim then left the residence and contacted police. The accused fled the area on foot prior to police arriving at the home. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Luis Amilcar AYALA. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On April 15 at 1:35PM, officers responded to the 2400 block of the Prince William Pkwy in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a fight. Witnesses reported to police that multiple individuals were fighting in the parking lot of the Target. During the encounter, a gunshot was heard. Following the reported gunfire, the suspects dispersed and fled in two separate vehicles. Officers made contact with one of the vehicles and its occupants. No injuries or property damage were reported. Evidence at the scene, including a handgun magazine, were recovered.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On April 15 at 11:10AM, officers responded to investigate a destruction of property call that stemmed from a reckless handling complaint which was reported to have occurred in the 14900 block of Alaska Rd in Woodbridge (22191) earlier that morning shortly before 1:00AM. Initially, police responded to the above area around 12:50AM to investigate a report of shots fired. The caller advised that a dark colored Ford Escape was seen driving in the area prior to the shooting. Multiple officers checked the area at that time and did not locate the vehicle or evidence of a shooting. Later that morning, officers responded back to the area after a vehicle was located with bullet hole damage. Shell casings were also located. No homes or other property damage were reported. 

Residential Burglary – On April 15 at 2:42PM, officers responded to the Potomac Inn located at 13964 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The caller reported to police that someone entered their room sometime between April 11 and April 15. There were no signs of forced entry. A gaming console, television and laptop were reported missing.
