Discolored water in Manassas is safe; water main being repaired

On March 24, 2014, the City of Manassas’ water main on Nokesville Road was damaged by a contractor.  Repairs have been made, but water may appear discolored, according to Patty Prince, the city’s public affair specialist.

In the case of discolored water, residents are advised to run the cold water taps for a period of approximately 10-15 minutes to flush the line.  If the issue persists after running the tap, contact the City’s 24-hour Operations Center at 703-257-8353. Even though the water may be discolored, it has been treated and is safe to use, Prince said.
