City of Manassas appoints new chief of fire and rescue

Manassas City Manager William Patrick Pate announced May 20 that Robert Lee Clemons, Jr., a battalion chief with Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue, has been selected as Fire and Rescue Chief for the City of Manassas.

Clemons first day will be June 20, 2016.  He will replace retiring Chief Brett Bowman, who also came to the city from Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.

Clemons has more than 28 years of career experience and 10 years of volunteer experience in fire and rescue services, according to a city press release.

He has multiple certifications in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Fire Services.  He is a graduate of the International Public Safety Leadership Institute.

He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Fire Department Safety Officers Association and the Society for Human Resources Management.

Clemons was quoted in a news release as saying,  “The sense of community in the City of Manassas is wonderful and I look forward to becoming a part of it.”
