For the greatest toe-tapping beat Prince William County band students can achieve, attend the All-County High School Band event of the year scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7 at Osbourn Park High School. The annual event gives young musicians a chance to perform challenging scores under the direction of a guest conductor. The snow date is January 14. Guests are encouraged to attend and support arts education in PWCS schools.
The All-County High School Bands represents the top PWCS student band members among the Senior Honors Band (grades 9-12), chosen through an audition process; and the Ninth-Grade Honors Band, chosen via a lottery system, based on set criteria.
Stan Schoonover, former music supervisor and band director for Fairfax County Public Schools, will conduct the Senior Honors Band, while Brian Thomas, band director at J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church, will direct the Ninth-Grade Honors Band.
