Middle school musicians to take part in side-by-side concert with Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra

Local middle school students will be in the spotlight as they join the Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra (OBCO) in the first ever side-by-side concert on Nov. 5 at Hylton High School.

Students from Godwin, Parkside, Lake Ridge, and Woodbridge Middle Schools will take the stage with OBCO musicians and to prepare music for the upcoming Jr. All-County auditions with the OBCO conductor, David Kirven, ensembles coordinator for the US Army Band.

The concert line-up includes the string section of OBCO performing Vivaldi’s “Concerto in G Minor for Two Cellos,” featuring soloists Dr. Ed Stephenson, PWCS supervisor of the arts, and Mark Shuping, Woodbridge Middle School orchestra director; the first movement of the “St. Paul Suite” by Holst; and several pop tunes.

This event is free and open to the public. The event will start at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Hylton High School, 14051 Spriggs Road, Woodbridge.
