Fifth suspect arrested in connection with Jackson murder in Gainesville Sept. 12

UPDATE

Murder Investigation *ARREST – On October 6th, members of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, located and arrested the suspect, Alvin JONES, who was wanted in connection to the murder of Claude JACKSON III which occurred in the area of Old Linton Hall Rd and Charis Ave in Gainesville on September 12th.

The suspect was located at a home in the 100 block of Saint Johns Sq in Sterling. Four additional suspects were previously arrested in connection to this investigation.

Arrested on October 6th:

Alvin Burnett JONES, 32, of 8637 Sumter Ct in Manassas Park

Charged with murder, aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Murder Investigation [Previously Released] – On September 12th at 1:50AM, officers responded to the area of Old Linton Hall Rd and Charis Ave in Gainesville (20155) for a shots fired call. Officers arrived and located two adult male victims in a nearby parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to nearby hospitals where one victim, identified as a Claude Jackson III, died as a result of his injuries. The second victim, identified as a 22 year old man of Bristow, suffered life threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. While investigating, officers were approached by a third victim, identified as a 24 year old man of Manassas, suffering from a minor graze wound to the hand. Detectives from the Homicide Unit did determine that this encounter was between known acquaintances and was later connected to a verbal altercation between the men which occurred the week prior at an establishment in Chantilly. The investigation into this shooting revealed that an altercation occurred in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center between the three victims and the suspects. During that altercation, shots were fired and the three victims were struck. All three victims were known to one another. Between September 14th and 15th, detectives made several arrests in connection to this case. After the extensive investigation, detectives obtained warrants for the arrests of five suspects involved, four of which are in police custody. The fifth suspect, identified as Alvin JONES, remains wanted and should be considered armed and dangerous. This homicide investigation has been classified as a murder. This is Prince William County’s 3rd murder of 2015.

**UPDATES** Residential Burglary *ARREST– – On October 5th, detectives from the Property Crimes Unit identified a fourth suspect involved in the burglary which reportedly occurred at a residence located in the 12600 block of Castile Ct in Woodbridge on May 22nd. When officers attempted to the arrest this suspect, identified as Jose ALVAREZ, he actively resisted. Three additional suspects, including two juveniles, were previously arrested in connection to this investigation.

Jose Noel ALVAREZ, 20, of 3756 Del Mar Dr in Woodbridge
Charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony, grand larceny and resisting arrest

Residential Burglary [Previously Released] – On May 22nd at 4:25PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12600 block of Castile Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:45AM and 2:20PM. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the home. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured rear window. A laptop, jewelry, gaming console and other property were reported missing. On June 2nd, detectives from the Property Crimes Unit identified and arrested two juveniles in connection to this burglary. During the investigation, detectives learned that a third suspect, identified as Tevon HASKINS, was also involved in the burglary and that he and the female juvenile had conspired to plan the incident. The HASKINS suspect was also reportedly armed during the commission of the burglary. Following the investigation, both juveniles were changed and warrants were obtained for the arrest of HASKINS. 

**INCIDENTS**

Sexual Assault Investigation – On October 6th at 10:02AM, officers responded to the Wyndham Garden Hotel located at 10800 Vandor Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a sexual assault. The victim, a 15 year old female juvenile visiting from Seoul Korea on a school related trip, reported to her school staff that she was sleeping inside her room when she woke around 5:00AM to an unknown man touching her inappropriately. When the victim woke up, the man fled the room. The victim was unable to describe the man to investigators due to the room being dark at the time. School staff reported the incident to police later in that morning. While investigating, detectives from the Special Victims Unit learned of a second similar incident which reportedly occurred the day prior, October 5th, around 6:15AM involving a 16 year old female juvenile student on the same trip. In that incident, an unknown man also reportedly touched the victim before fleeing the room when she woke. The victim was only able to describe the suspect as a white male with a medium build and bald head. This encounter was not reported to police until the second incident occurred. No injuries were reported in either case. Detectives canvassed the entire hotel and no suspect was located. There were no signs of forced entry into either room. The investigation continues.

Armed Robbery – On October 6th at 6:06AM, officers responded to the 1300 block of East Longview Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 47 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was walking to his apartment building in the above area when he was approached by two unknown men. During the encounter, one of the men brandished a firearm. The men took money and a cell phone from the victim’s pockets before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspects who were not located.
Suspect Description:
2 black males, between 25 & 30 years of age, 5’8”-6’0”, 180-190lbs with thin builds
1st suspect was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket, black pants and a black skull cap
2nd suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket and black pants

Strangulation | Abduction | Domestic Assault & Battery – On October 6th at 6:17PM, officers responded to the 7600 block of Chestnut St in Manassas (20111) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 29 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the victim attempted to flee. The accused chased the victim and, at one point, began to choke her. The victim was eventually able to get away from the accused and contact police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused.

Attempted Commercial Burglary – On October 5th at 11:08AM, officers responded to Teppanyaki Grill & Supreme Buffet located at 8260 Shoppers Sq in Manassas (20111) to investigate an attempted burglary. An employee reported to police that sometime between 11:00PM on October 4th and 10:30AM on October 5th, entry was attempted into the business through a front glass window which was found damaged. Video surveillance revealed that an unknown person struck the glass multiple times with a hammer. The safety glass prevented entry into the business and no property was reported missing.
Suspect Description:
Male, unknown race, between 20 & 30 years of age, 5’11”, 175lbs with a thin build
Last seen wearing a blue heavy hooded coat, blue jeans, black gloves and black shoes

Attempted Commercial Burglary – On October 5th at 11:01AM, officers responded to J L White and Associates located at 8571 Sudley Rd in Manassas (20109) to investigate an attempted burglary. A staff member reported to police that sometime between 2:00PM on October 2nd and 7:00Am on October 4th, entry was attempted into the building through a window which was found damaged. No entry was into the building and no property was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Felony Hit & Run – On October 6th at 7:44AM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Dale Blvd and Cloverdale Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a hit and run crash. The investigation revealed that a 30 year old woman of Woodbridge and her child, a 2 year old boy, were crossing Dale Blvd in a designated crosswalk and with a “walk” signal, when the driver of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix turned right from Cloverdale Rd and struck them. After the collision, the driver, later identified as the accused, left the scene at a high rate of speed. An off-duty Fairfax County police detective was able to follow the accused to the area of Cowes Mews and Cherrydale Rd where he was located by officers and detained without further incident. The victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injures. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with felony hit & run, driving on a suspended license and additional vehicle offenses
