Three arrested and charged with malicious wounding

**ARRESTS**
Malicious Wounding –
On March 31 at 6:15M, officers responded to the 14700 block of Potomac Mills Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an assault.  The investigation revealed that while in the wooded area near the above location, the victim, a 31-year-old woman, and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated.

During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the arms with a bat before physically striking her multiple times to the upper body. Other people in the area separated the parties and the victim fled to a nearby location to contact the police. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Following the investigation, officers arrested the accused, identified as TIlyana Vertice SPANN.

Malicious Wounding – On March 30 at 9:29PM, officers responded to the Holiday Inn located 3901 Fettler Park Dr. in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a fight. The victim, a 44-year-old man, reported to police that he had been struck by the accused, an acquaintance, while walking into the hotel.

The investigation revealed the victim was walking into the hotel with a friend when the accused confronted him. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the face. The parties separated and the accused fled the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Ronald Lee ROPER II. The accused turned himself into the police on March 31 without incident.

Malicious Wounding – On March 30 at 12:22AM, officers responded to a residence in the 4500 block of Forestburg Ln. in Triangle (22172) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed the victim, a 67-year-old man, and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated.
During the encounter, the accused struck the victim with a knife in the upper body before a struggle ensued. The parties separated and the police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported and both parties were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Following the investigation, officers arrested the accused, identified as Jean Marie WILLIAMS.

Strangulation | Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On March 28 at 3:30PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12900 block of Ness Hollow Ct. in Bristow (20136) to investigate a domestic.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a 17-year-old male juvenile, was involved in a verbal altercation with the accused, a family member, which escalated. During the encounter, the accused pushed the victim down and, when the victim got back up, the accused grabbed the victim’s neck. The parties separated and the victim exited the residence to contact the police. The victim reported minor injuries.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Michael Braid HOOKS, was arrested. As officers were escorting the accused out of the residence, he kicked an officer in the leg and begin resisting arrest. A brief struggle ensued and officers eventually secured the accused. Minor injuries were reported and the accused was treated by rescue personnel on scene.
