Pennington 5K and Hero Mile race set for Oct. 31

Philip Michael Pennington Traditional School will hold its annual Blue Jay 5K and Hero Mile fundraiser benefitting families of fallen police officers at the school at 9305 Stonewall Rd, Manassas, VA 20110 on Halloween morning - Saturday, Oct. 31 with packet pickup beginning at 7:15 a.m.

The Hero Mile begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Blue Jay 5K at 9 a.m.

Fees are $25 until Sept. 30, then $30 until Oct. 30, then $40 race day registration; Hero Mile, $15 until Sept. 30, then $20 until Oct. 30, then $30 race day registration.

Two times for Packet Pickup at Pennington Traditional School, are on Oct. 30, 4-5:30 p.m.; and then on Oct. 31, 7:15-8:15 a.m.

Pennington School was named after Police Officer Philip Michael Pennington, who was killed in the line of duty protecting our community. 

Each year the school comes together to hold a 5K and Hero Mile to raise funds to support the Prince William County Police Survivors Fund, previously known as the James Edward Fisher Memorial Trust.  The purpose of this fund is to support the educational expenses of children of deceased or disabled police officers of the Prince William County Police Department. 

In addition to raising money to support this charity, a portion of the funds raised will go to support the technology fund for the children who attend Philip Michael Pennington Traditional School.
