Local residents shoot baskets to gold in Northern Virginia Senior Olympics

“Former NBA players Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird have nothing on our Northern Virginia Senior Olympics basketball players,” said Judy Massabny, NVSO Co-Coordinator. “Even though they’re playing 3 on 3 half court, when that adrenalin kicks in, look out,” said Massabny. In addition to the men’s basketball games, men’s and women’s field goal shooting and free throw shooting were all held Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Thomas Jefferson Community in Arlington.

The gold medal teams in men’s basketball were (70+) Committee Creepers,  whose members included Jim Viggiani, Manassas and David Jerome, Haymarket;  (60-69) Prince William Busch whose team members included Donald Greene, Jr., Dale City and Bill Baird, Haymarket.

In basketball field goal competition, there were no male or female gold medalists from Prince William County.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 26 is the final day of the 2012 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics. For more information, call 703-228-4721, email nvso1982@gmail or go to http://www.nvso.us
