The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) will be investing more than a million dollars in renovating three highly-used boating access sites in eastern Virginia. During the renovation process some of the facilities may not be fully operational. The renovations will be completed just in time for the spring 2016 fishing and boating season, according to a VDGIF news release.
The Department asks that boaters and anglers be patient and courteous during the renovation process. All of the renovation projects described are partially funded by the Sport Fish Restoration Act administered by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and are an investment of fresh and saltwater fishing license dollars and boat titling and registration fees.
West Point Landing—King William County:
The VDGIF, in partnership with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) and the Town of West Point will be renovating and expanding the facilities at West Point Landing. The docks and fishing pier will be re-decked with new composite decking and the sub-structure will be refurbished with pressure treated wood. The parking lot will be resurfaced and expanded; and a new non-power boating access facility will be added.
Construction will begin approximately November 1, and will be completed approximately February 1, 2016. One launching lane and one courtesy pier will be left open throughout most of the construction. However, short term closures of the ramp and courtesy pier may be necessary during construction for safety reasons. Once renovation begins the fishing pier will be closed until completion.

The renovations include: the replacement and expansion of all three launching piers, resurfacing the parking lot with new drainage patterns, and the addition of a new floating non-power boating access facility.
Construction will begin after November 1, and will be completed approximately April 1, 2016. Short term closures of the ramp, courtesy pier, and parking area may be necessary during construction for safety reasons.
