The Woodbridge Little League Big League Team (ages 16-18), District 9 Champions and repeat State Champions, made an impressive showing in the Southeast Regional Tournament in Ft. Lauderdale, FL as regional finalists. The team went 1-1 in pool play, defeating the Florida State Champions 7-5, and advancing to the semi-finals where the Woodbridge team defeated the Florida host team 14-3.
They brought home second place honors after falling to South Carolina, three-time regional champs, in a fierce battle which ended with a score of 4-2. The Virginia Champs led the game until the sixth inning. Woodbridge finished the 2011 season with a record of 18-4, outscoring their opponents 209-65 and recording eight shutouts. The young men on this team played against the Big League State Champions of the Southeast Region and brought home medals and a plaque for which they were honored by Woodbridge Little League.
Southeast Regional Runner-ups are: Alex Cox, RJ Glover, JR Gregory, Matt Jack, Tommy Lawson, Danny McCormick, Philip Mock, Alex Monaco, Hector Ortiz, Justin Petock, Spencer Porter, Shaun Shaklee, Danny Tickle, Kyle Toomey, Jimmy Weiser, Brian Wirth, Cody Zeman. The team was led by Manager Joe Wirth and Coaches Keith Davidson and Joseph Wirth
