Master Gardening: Take the guesswork out of pruning class Oct. 17 in Warrenton

Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) and Master Gardeners are offering a presentation on “Take the Guess Work out of Pruning” on Tuesday, October 17 at 6 pm at Fauquier Extension Office, 24 Pelham Street, Warrenton.

Tim Ohlwiler, Horticulture Extension Agent, will teach the proper techniques for pruning shrubs and trees including timing, the different cuts and the tools that are necessary. He will take a particular look at pruning fruit trees, berries and look at other common ornamentals in the home garden.

“Take the Guess Work out of Pruning” presentation is part of the Fauquier/Rappahannock Master Gardeners’ Twilight Tuesdays program, a series of horticultural classes held from spring to fall each year for the community.  The classes are taught by horticultural experts and seasoned Master Gardeners and cover a broad range of topics – from gardening techniques and tips, to advances in environmental and conservation issues.

The series provides local gardeners with innovative gardening techniques and best practices that they can put to use in their own home gardens.

The program is free of charge and open to the public, rain or shine. It will last 60-90 minutes.  It is recommended to register and arrive early.  To RSVP or for additional information, contact the Master Gardener Help Desk at 540-341-7950, Ext. 1 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Master Gardeners are volunteers for the Virginia Cooperative Extension, who are dedicated to working with the community to encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices.  For information on the Master Gardener program and upcoming events:
