Fall Earth Fling at Tackett’s Mill in Lake Ridge Oct. 11

Prince William Conservation Alliance is sponsoring a Fall Earth Fling at the Tackett’s Mill shopping center in Lake Ridge off Old Bridge Road on Saturday, Oct. 11. Check out worm composting, take the street tree tour, explore nature close to home, meet people working to improve our community, and learn how to help.

Nature Games, Crafts & Critters all day
Featuring live aquatic critters, art with recycled materials, and more. Try your hand at fun games with an environmental theme ... celebrate art and nature with local organizations

10:30 am Music by Lou Rosgen (aka Woodbridge Willie)
Ranch raised in the Rocky Mountain West, Lou is a Marine Corps veteran and classic country acoustic musician specializing in Willie Nelson covers.

11:30 am Lake Tour
Find out how urban stormwater runoff in our Lake Ridge community flows from parking lots, roof tops and roads to this small manmade lake, or stormwater retention pond.

12:15 pm Worm Composting Demonstration
Learn how to recycle food scraps and other organic material into a valuable soil amendment called vermicompost, or worm compost.

Lake Ridge is lucky to have mature landscapes with tall trees. Come learn how to keep our neighborhood lush by maintaining trees, removing trees, and planting new ones - the right ones in the right place!

Participating organizations and agencies include Prince William Conservation Alliance, PWC Public Works, Keep Prince William Beautiful, PWC Mosquito & Forest Pest Management, Prince William Wildflower Society, PWC Office of Recycling, PWC Service Authority, PWC Parks and Recreation Department, Master Gardeners, Tackett’s Mill resident artists Nick Zimbro and Nelson Gutierrez.
