Tours and events for 150th anniversary of Thoroughfare Gap battle at historic mill

Turn the Mill Around Campaign is sponsoring two special days of tours, presentations and onsite family events at the Chapman/ Beverley Mill Historic Site in Prince William and Fauquier Counties Aug. In commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Thoroughfare Gap, the Presentations and site tours by noted historians will be offered throughout each day on Saturday and Sunday, August 25th and 26th, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fought immediately before the Battle of Second Manassas, the outcome of this battle contributed to the Confederate victory there.  Learn the surprising story of the men who fought this battle and the current efforts to preserve this local battlefield.  See the quarry where the battle occurred. Meet living historians who share their experiences during the battle. Enjoy 19th century music and see special exhibits on Civil War medicine and the Black Horse Cavalry. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated.
