Prince William County VA seniors 60 and older can adopt a senior dog or cat age 5 and older for free through a new program, "Seniors for Seniors," at the Prince William County Animal Shelter. All pets will be microchipped and there will be a microchip registration charge.

Prince William County VA School Board has approved its $861 million operating budget for 2012-13. This includes step increases for the school division's approximately 5,000 teachers and 5,000 support personnel. The spending plan requires $5 million in new cuts to cover the cost of the pay increases, according to Phil Kavits, director of communications.

Prince William County VA emergency personnel as well as workers from the Department of Social Services and school bus drivers joined with personnel from the Prince William Chapter of the American Red Cross late last night in relocating 50 senior citizens–some in wheelchairs–and 20 pets to the Dale City Recreation Center from an apartment building at 13900 Hedgewood Drive near Minnieville Road and Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge VA. Flooding caused by a burst hot water pipe forced the relocation, according to a Prince William County VA press release.
