Would-be robbery victim clobbers armed and masked suspect with her purse

Attempted Armed Robbery – On April 27 at 1:25AM, Prince William County police officers responded to the Markham Grant Apartments located in the 2700 block of Haverford Lp. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an attempted robbery, according to MPO Renee Carr, police department representative.

The victim, a 34-year-old woman, reported to police that she was walking in the above area when she was approached from behind by an unknown man wearing a mask. When the victim turned around, the suspect brandished a firearm and demanded her purse. The victim refused to comply and struck the suspect with her purse which caused the suspect to flee on foot, Off/ Carr said.

The victim continued to her home where she contacted the police. No injuries were reported. Officers and a police K-9 searched the area for the suspect who was not located.

Suspect Description:
A black male, 5’7”, 165lbs., between 17-25 years of age, medium build and brown eyes
Last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a light-colored facial mask, dark-colored gloves, light grey sweatpants and dark-colored shoes
