Vehicle crashes into Manassas residence, City police report

Hit and Run/Assault on LEO
On September 1, 2018 at approximately 8:59 p.m., officers from the Manassas City Police Department responded to the 8800 block of Jackson Ave for a report of a hit and run. Through investigation, it was determined the suspects were travelling on Jackson Ave when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a residence.

The driver and passenger fled the scene, but were located by officers nearby. The passenger, a juvenile, was uncooperative and assaulted officers during the course of the investigation and was subsequently arrested. The driver, identified as Jose MARTINEZ, was cited and released. The juvenile passenger was treated for minor injuries from the crash and the officers were uninjured.

Charges: Assault on Law Enforcement Officer x2, Obstruction, Providing False ID to Law Enforcement Officer, Threats to Burn, Disorderly Conduct

Malicious Wounding
On September 1, 2018 at approximately 4:51 p.m., officers of the Manassas City Police Department responded to the 9700 block of Bragg Ln for a report of an assault. The investigation revealed two victims were struck by the suspect with a metal pipe. The victims were transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Arrested: THAKUR, Abir, a 29 year-old resident of Manassas
Charges: Malicious Wounding x2

Vehicle Break-ins
On September 3, 2018, officers of the Manassas City Police Department responded to the 9100 block of Portner Ave for reports of vehicle break-ins. The investigation revealed multiple cars were broken into between 3:00 p.m. on September 2 and 8:28 a.m. on September 3. There were no signs of forced entry. A GPS was reported missing. The Manassas City Police Department reminds citizens to always lock their car doors and remove valuables from their vehicles.
